The CY-DM series intelligent harmonic-suppression capacitor compensator is a highly efficient, energy conserving VAR compensator of a new generation, working under 0.4 kV, 50 Hz low-voltage distribution networks with the abilities to mitigate line loss and improve power factor and quality. It incorporates intelligent measuring and control unit, synchronous precharge switch circuits, line protection unit and up-to-date technologies such as microsensor, micro-network and electric apparatus manufacture, making it possible to switch when both the voltage and rate of voltage change of the switch contact are zero. Three independent precharge switches are employed in its three-phase circuits, providing all features for ideal switching: no inrush current, and quick switching that takes only 3 seconds from switching off to on. These prolong the lives of both the switch and the capacitor. Since this product runs reliably without resonance, amplifying no harmonics, and even absorbs and eliminates the same to a certain extent, it is mainly used for VAR compensation of applications with severe harmonics. In this series, products with tandem reactor of 7% reactance ratio are suitable for electrical environments of which the primary harmonic number is 5, while the ones with 13% are designed for 3.
